Lana Samuels knows what it feels like to fall between the cracks. After suffering from an injury more than 20 years ago and, she said, surviving because a manstrongly and compassionately advocated for her when she was too weak to navigate thru the complex medical system alone. He saved her life and his name is Thomas who is a true hero, and after that she knew her life’s mission would be to return the favor by helping the man who saved her life and others whom are in a severe medical and or living crisis. Many of the people also need advocacy since as Lana experienced they need advocacy assistance since they are too weak to navigate thru the complex medical system alone.
In 2003, the Ocean City resident started People in Crisis Inc., a nonprofit organization that advocates for individuals who are not medically insured, under-insured or feel helpless due to lack of financial assistance.
