PICI Outreach Story: “Sarah Reynolds”

Sarah Reynolds resides in Somers Point, NJ. As an elderly individual with Stage 4 COPD, she requires an oxygen tank to breathe. When Ms. Reynolds and her son were about to be evicted because of their inability to afford to pay back rent, PICI successfully negotiated a payment plan with their landlord. When the Reynolds’ missed a payment and were about to be evicted again, PICI successfully found a donor who was able to pay $3,900 in current and back rent. Ms. Reynolds threatened to stop her oxygen had she been evicted. In addition, PICI has successfully negotiated with her utility provider, Atlantic City Electric, to form a new payment plan, so her electric wouldn’t be shut off and thus lose oxygen.
